Hi Everyone!
We've got a jam-packed, short week ahead of us! We will head to the computer lab today in my math class. We will also be learning about Fire Safety this week. You'll see a homework assignment coming home with your child today. Please be sure to check this out! It's so important that our families are prepared in the event of emergencies. On Tuesday, the Fire Safety House is coming to our school and we'll take a tour and practice being "fire safety experts." On Thursday, we'll return to the Media Center to return and check-out new books! As you can see, we'll be busy bees this week! :)
P.S. Be sure to check out some fun photos at the bottom of this post from last week.
This Week:
-Fire Safety Homework Assignment in folders Monday. Discuss an emergency plan with your child, create an outside meeting place, and check your smoke detectors in your house. (I'll be doing this at my house too! We actually just purchased an escape ladder to keep on our second level in the event of an emergency. Totally cheesy, but makes me feel better to know our family has it just in case we ever need to use it.)
-Please check out our grade-level blog for our phonics pattern this week. The students will be assessed on this skill each Friday. Our pattern this week is the Double -ff, -ll, -ss, and -zz. Whenever a word ends in one of the letters and has a short vowel, you double it. Examples: fluff, bell, pass, fizz Our Red Words for the week are help, make, and on. Your child will come home with a Red Word Pre-Assessment on Mondays which will tell you whether they need to practice these words this week for our assessment on Friday. Please be sure to practice this at home with them weekly!
School Events/Reminders:
-No School for Students on October 9th and 12th! Enjoy your long weekend and we're excited to see everyone at conferences!
-NO Visitors allowed in the building October 19-23 due to ITBS Testing. This includes lunch visitors.
Peace, Love, and Learning,
Mrs. Streck
