We have a VERY exciting week ahead! Please note that Ms. Bohnet is out this entire week for a special professional development opportunity. She is attending the Ortin-Gillingham training in Atlanta. We'll miss her, but this opportunity is very beneficial. Having already had the opportunity to become Orton certified, I speak from experience, that it is one of the most valuable teaching endorsements to have. We also sadly say goodbye to Mrs. Pruitt. We will miss her greatly. We had a chance to say goodbye to her today and share one last special memory with her. Thank you for sending in cards. I know it meant a lot to her!
A few reminders for this week:
-This week is Red Ribbon Week. Today, the students attended an assembly hosted by the Alpharetta Police Department and their K-9 dogs. The police officers talked about being drug free and keeping our bodies healthy! Please encourage your child to participate in the PTA's Red Ribbon week spirit wear days. The dates are as follows:
October 27th “Team Spirit” – Wear your favorite team jersey.
October 28th “Put a Cap on Drugs” – Wear your favorite hat.
October 29th “Turn your back to Drugs” - Wear your shirt backwards.
October 30th “Love your School” – Wear your favorite spirit wear.
-Please don't forget to send the 'books bags' back after a few days. Please be sure to read these books at least two times at home before sending them in. This is just a way to help you have some "appropriate" reading materials to practice at home and keep you connected with what your child is doing in guided reading groups!
-If you have not already, be sure to send back the signed report card envelope. We use these for the entire year. Also, when work is sent home and has a stapled "grade sheet" on the front, please send the entire packet back in. This work is filed in their student work folder for the year and is how I track progress. Any other work is yours to keep, but these graded work samples go in your child's work folder.
On Friday, we will participate in our Author's Celebration, Halloween Math Stations, and do some fun Science experiments. Be sure to check back next week for some fun pictures!
Peace, Love, and Learning!
Mrs. Streck and Ms., Bohnet
